When Trex gets wet, What can I Expect?

Trex when wet or dry is very slip-resistant.  Also it is compliant with the Disabilities Act of America rating adequately on their rating scale.

Will Trex Absorb Moisture?

Although Trex is also made of plastic materials, and wood in equal amounts, it will absorb moisure to some extent

What kind of performance can I expect in cold weather?

It  is not a problem.  Trex decking holds up under extreme weather, as with any surface that is icy, it will be slippery.  Caution needs to be recognized.

How About Hot Weather Performance?

No problems, be careful it may be too hot for barefeet at times, like any other deck might be. Overall it will perform will so pay attention to the gapping instructions to allow expansion of the boards between summer and winter seasons.

 Can I use Trex on the ground?
Not a good idea.. Not to be used for edging and landscape. Eventually it will deteriate.

How about the fire rating for Trex?
For railing and decking it's rated as Class C sometimes known as Class 3. Which means it burns similar to wood in combustion. Plus Trex products have been found to be no more toxic than wood products.

Are Trex Products accepted by Local Building Departments?
Yes-residential and commercial in the US and Canada. Trex is listed with the International Code Council Evaluation Service ICC ESR-1190 which covers BOCA, UBC, IBC, IRC and SBC codes.
